How to treat pre-mature greying of hair?
It is to be considered that you are brave if you are an extrovert with pre-mature grey hair because normally, we lose our confidence because of this factor. Premature greying of hair is also known as canities and famous of negative effects on one’s personality. It has a great role in making you lose confidence and decrease social appearances. These hair greying occurs in-group of people from age 20 to 30 years on an average.
Though there are still numerous researches taking place on the correct reason of premature grey hair but the existing researches show that nutritional, environmental and genetic together becomes the cause. Other reasons include:

• Lower bone density
• Deficiency of folic acid and vitamin B12

If you are going grey before the age, here are some good options for you to consider treating them at home:
1. Coconut Oil and Curry Leaves
Coconut oil and curry leaves are worldly famous for their enormous advantages for hair. Curry leaves is powerful enough to bring back the lost pigmentation due to the existence of antioxidants and vitamin A, C and E along with minerals such as iron, calcium, phosphorous, copper and magnesium. It is great to treat grey hair and strengthening up the hair follicles for better hair growth.
On the other hand, coconut oil is known to do wonders for hairs from centuries. Being rich with nutrients and antioxidants, it can help you retain your natural hair color.
How to use them?
i. Boil 100 ml of coconut oil and handful of dried curry leaves until the leaves turn black. Strain out the solution and let it cool. Pour it into an airtight container and massage it every night before you go to bed for about 10 to 15 minutes. Wash it off the next morning. You will notice the difference within 2 weeks. However, continue using it for three months o regular basis to retain the natural color.
ii. For curry leaves mask, make a paste by adding half cup of yogurt to quarter cup of curry leaves. Make a fine paste and massage it into your scalp for 5 to 10 minutes. Leave it for 30 minutes to full absorb into the skin and wash it off afterwards. Repeat it twice a week.
iii. Coconut oil can be used individually or with other homemade masks. For extra boost, add a tablespoon of Aloe Vera Gel or mix it with Amla Hair Oil on equal quantities. Repeat it thrice a week.
2. Indian Gooseberry (Amla):
Amla is popular to be one of the best remedies to reduce or avoid growth of pre-mature grey hair. It is also known as nectar due to its versatility of benefits for hair. Indian Gooseberry comes with massive source of powerful antioxidants and Vitamin C, which helps in renewing your hair – making it thicker, darker and fuller. Another major cause of premature hair is excess body heat for which Amla is a great cure.
How to use it?
i. Get a cup of coconut oil and add 2 tablespoons indian gooseberry powder and fenugreek (methi) in a pan to make a solution. On a low flame, heat the mixture until the oil turns light brown and let it cool down enough to be applied on scalp. Strain and store in a clean and dry container. Massage it every night before you go to bed for about 10 to 15 minutes. Wash it off the next morning. For great results, apply regularly for two months, consistently.
ii. You can also simply massage amla oil on your hair for smooth and silky hair and treat premature greying.
iii. If you rinse off your hair with amla water, it will also improve the condition and texture of hair within few months, showing up a drastic decrease in grey hair.
Adding onion to the food is a great natural treatment for premature grey hair because it is enriched with antioxidant enzyme catalase. Other major ingredients for restoring the natural color of hair are folic acid, vitamin C and copper. Applying onion juice onto the scalp reduces build-up of hydrogen peroxide, treating grey hair and making them look softer, healthier and shinier.
How to use it?
i. With the help of muslin cloth, strain out the blended onion pulp into pot. Apply the juice to your hair roots and let it sit for about 30 to 40 minutes and wash in regular ways. For better results, repeat it twice a week.
ii. Adding coconut oil and onion juice in equal quantities can also be applied in same manner mentioned above.
iii. In case onion smell is really strong for you, this hair mask can be a great idea for you. Add 1 whole egg and 1-tablespoon olive oil to onion juice and apply in the same manner in point (i).
4. Vitamin B12
If your grey hair is increasing along with other symptoms such as shortness of breath, tired all day long, brain fog or confusion, you might be Vitamin B12 deficient. Animal sources such as meat, milk, eggs, fish and other dairy products are natural sources. SO, if you are vegan, there are chances you might be Vitamin B12 deficient. Intake of food items enriched with B12 can help cure premature greying of hair. If vegan, you can take vitamin B12 supplements. Other intakes for curing grey hair includes, Ghee, Cod Liver Oil, Aloe Vera and Vitamin D.
5. Black Sesame Seeds (Til):
According to traditional Chinese Medicine, black sesame seeds are known to be a great ingredient for hair. Black sesame is popular for promoting melanocyte activity to produce melanin (pigment responsible for retaining hair color), stimulating hair growth and nourishing scalp.
